Americare Medical Joins the Worldwide Fights Against Poverty
August 23, 2007, Healthcare provider AmeriCare Medical, Inc. Troy, Michigan, has joined the Millennium Development Campaign against poverty. This U.N program was established in response to the signing of the Millennium Declaration in 2000; signed by 189 countries as a promise to end extreme poverty in the world by 2015 reaching 8 time bound goals. Four of the 8 goals are related to improved healthcare on an international level including:
- Reducing Child Mortality
- Improving Maternal healthcare
- Combating HIV/AIDS and other diseases
- Developing a global partnership for development
Americare joined as a corporate partner to raise awareness, provide services and sponsor events for the cause. The goal concerning partnerships is how corporations in the private sector, local municipalities and citizens can be involved in the campaign. “Americare Medical and its employees have been involved in many healthcare and social related causes thought the past 28 years and this year we realized that the Millennium Development campaign was one of the most important and respected campaign programs to be a part of, therefore we found it our responsibility to get involved in some way” said Greg Jamian, President of AmeriCare Medical Inc.. Greg Jamian and his staff have already held various health symposiums and conferences in the tri county area including symposiums on Avian Bird Flu, SARS and West Nile Virus, as well as meetings and conferences on the Ageing population, Home Care, and Medicare part D.
